Building on the foundation of 2024

2024 was a bumper year for my writing. I wrote over 100 pieces when I add my business articles, the opinion articles and Writer’s Logs here, the reviews, poems, fiction and fanfiction. Compared to the 7 pieces I managed in 2023 that turnaround is tremendous and underscores my achievement in refocusing my energy towards my writing.

Looking forward to 2025, here are my main goals:

Original Fiction:

My top priority. I want to have 2 published novels by the end of 2025 and to build my catalogue of original fiction on this site.

• Edit and publish The Case of the Cursed Conman in 1st Half of 2025.
• Write, edit and publish a second novel in 2nd Half of 2025.
• Write a third story in the Iolaire Bay series.
• Aim to do a short (750-1000 words) every month.

I appreciate this is ambitious but I really want to try and achieve this.

Fanfiction:

My second priority. I want to maintain a regular monthly fanfiction posting in 2025 with the aim to publish up to 15 fanfictions.

• Write Another Dimension which will be the 3rd story in my A Step to the Right series. As with last year, there will be a sneak peek available for subscribers for International Fandom/Evil Author’s Day.
• Complete season 8 of my Aftershocks series. There are 10 stories to do in this series to achieve that.
• Write 1 story in each Big Moxie challenge over on Writing and Junk.

I am not unaware that many of my subscribers are here primarily for the fanfiction, and specifically for Harry Potter fanfiction at that. This number of fanfictions is less than 2024, but I think this is doable with my other commitments especially if I aim to get two novels published.

Reviews & Opinion Articles:

My third priority. Primarily, I want to do my Writer’s Logs. In addition, I may do a series of articles that I will publish over at Substack sometime in 2025.

• Write fortnightly Writer’s Logs through 2025 providing an insight into my writing journey.
• Write a weekly article series for Substack beginning before the end of 2025.
• Finish reviewing Skeleton Crew in January 2025.
• Review other TV shows and movies, only if time allows or there is something I really, really want to put into words.

Poems:

My nice-to-have priority. It would be nice to publish a collection of poems by the end of 2025.

• Write and post when inspired.
• Bring together a collection of poems for publication by the end of 2025, only if time allows.

I am considering how I really celebrate those people who are patrons and subscribers. I may make some of my work subscriber or paid subscriber exclusive, but I have not settled on any firm plans yet.

I will also be refocusing on my business at the start of this year to drive that forward more. This means more writing. I’ll also be setting up a supporting YouTube and Substack channel for the business so lots to do there!

I have a lot of ambitious plans for 2025, but 2024 showed me just how much I could do when I focused on what I love to do – this wonderful world of writing.
