Writer’s Log: Looking Forward to 2024

When life gives you lemons…make lemonade to drink while writing

Normally I do a review of 2023, but quite honestly, last year was pants.

Of my writing projects, I only managed to get 7 new stories posted (10 if I’m generous and include the 3 stories in A Future in Motion series which were posted for a combined International Fandom/Evil Author offering), my original fiction went nowhere and my work has been beset with difficulties. The root cause for all of it all is my health. I have chronic conditions which have been made worse by age and infections creeping into the mix.

The result is that going forward in 2024, I am making some life changes including completely changing up the work side of the equation. Part of the preparation for that has been to create this website as a home for all my writing. I’m planning on making good use of it over the coming months.

To briefly look back, the highlight for me this year has been that I have managed to post something for each Big Moxie challenge I’ve taken part in: The Gift, The Case of the Missing Werewolf, The Best Deal, The Only Choice and A Different Path.

Looking forward though, I will be focused on the following:

Fanfiction:

  • My A Step to the Right series. I’ve begun rewriting the second part and hope to have a sneak peek available for subscribers for International Fandom/Evil Author’s Day.
  • My Aftershocks series. I’m determined that 2024 will be the year I complete Season 8.
  • Continuing to take part in the Big Moxie challenges over on Writing and Junk.
  • Seeing where my muse takes me…

Original Fiction:

  • Rewriting a novel I wrote a few years ago to freshen it up and getting it published on Kindle.
  • Aiming to do a short story per quarter.

Reviews & Articles:

  • I’m definitely planning to review Marvel’s Echo series this month (edit: done!), the new series of Doctor Who in May, and Deadpool 3 in July. I’d like to review something every month, but I’m not going to force myself to watch or read something just for the sake of it.
  • Opinion articles on topics that come up in the news.

I also have a couple of professional writing projects slated for 2024 so lots of writing in my future which makes me happy.

Please don’t forget to comment, like and subscribe for free if you enjoy my writing.

Thank you as always for the continuing support, Rachel
