Truth or lies?

Author’s Note: ‘Fake news,’ ‘disinformation,’ ‘my truth vs the truth…’

Society is sliding more and more into accepting lies as fact.

Content warning: Allusion to bodily harm/violence, psychological harm.

Truth is a sharp knife

pressed against a vein,

ready to cut you open.

Lies mask your pain.

Truth will not be kind

in its telling when

words are spoken aloud.

Lies give comfort.

Truth is a hard fall

which knocks the breath out

of you and leaves you gasping.

Lies give you wings.

Truth will be messy

and hard to hold in

your mind as reality.

Lies paint the world.

Lies are a sharp knife

buried in a heart,

killing you softly dear.

Truth sets you free.

Lies are cruelty

bottled in fine words

edged with poison and bile.

Truth shows the way.

Lies are a slime pit

which sucks you under

and drowns you slowly, slowly.

Truth pulls you out.

Lies will be messy,

slippery in hand

as they wriggle and writhe.

Truth is the world.

What will you choose today?

Truth or lies, my friend.
