Innocence singing up on a stage
Bright lights, big cities,
All the trappings of fame.
Music building higher and higher
Loud laughs, joy bubbles,
Loving creativity.
Boyhood is dancing into a man
Life’s gifts, life’s troubles,
Weave a tapestry bright.
Tough tangles building up in a mind
Hide hurts, mask feelings,
Keep on playing the game.
Struggling always downs and ups,
Hard drink, high on drugs,
Escaping reality.
Demons sitting on shoulders
Look up, look up…
‘til there’s nothing but light.
