With the blink of an eye
Blue skies turn to grey
As the universe turns like a wild dog
Bared teeth, snapping jaws,
Snarling in anger.
Steals all my breath away,
Steals my life away
As I sacrifice parts of me
To live, hoping they
Come back someday.
Even now my wounds bleed
My mind stutters through
As the memories turn up unwanted
At times, pulling fears,
Back into now.
Yet the beat of a heart
Raises eyes to the storm
As the wind calms and rain settles down
Wash clean, bleeding wounds,
Bringing love and hope.
