Author’s Note: I found this when I was looking through my writings snippets folder. Decided to give it a refresh and edit, and here we are.
Content warning: When maybe logic wins too much over emotions time after time.
Mental scars across my heart –
Reason, logic, mind and thought.
When are feelings ever heard?
Emotions don’t say a word.
Logic never feels the spell,
Knows the magic, rings the bell.
Practicality is key –
Locks the heart, demands a fee.
Will I ever face my fear?
I can’t see the future here.
Mind builds walls ever higher,
Wraps them tightly in barbed wire.
Will I dare to climb the thorns?
My soul is the one that mourns.
Dreams are locked behind safe bars,
Only look to distant stars.
Can this passion set them free?
Has desire deserted me?
Is love such a scary thing,
That I fear my heart can sing?
Life should not be grey and dull.
Heart wrapped up in cotton wool.
Shall the heart be free at all?
My soul alone hears its call.
The mind shall not win this war.
The heart will fly; fly and soar.
Let it reach the furthest skies –
Risk it all and seize the prize.
