Broody

Author’s Note: One of my oldest poems.

Content warnings: Longing for a baby.

My arms ache

for the weight of a baby.

My mind’s eye

sees my study transformed:

bright colours,

toys piled high,

a rocking chair,

a waiting crib.

Empty arms.

Empty room.

Empty womb.
